John Sliwa, Owner

John's first painting experience was in the summer of 1968 working as a school custodian. His boss that summer was a retired house painter, who came from a long line of painters. That first summer of painting, he learned a lot about proper prep work and "doing the job right the first time". In those days all the good paints were oil based and you actually had to burn the old paint from the pots in order to use them again.
While the products today have changed, acrylic latex paints are the best paints today, it is still true that the foundation of a great paint job is in the diligent preparation of the surface to be coated.

Having enjoyed painting and finding that he had a proficiency, John continued painting, part time, as a way to earn extra money as he attended college. In addition, he found work in other areas of construction including foundations, roofing, and carpentry. The experience he gained in these areas has helped tremendously in assessing and solving painting issues associated with houses that consistently peel or blister prematurely. There is always a solution.

Prior to establishing Apex Painting Company in 1997, John was employed in all phases of the painting industry with three different firms over the span of 10 years.

All of the painters at Apex are chosen for their high skill level, their excellent work ethic and most importantly the fact that they take pride in their work. All of our painters have a minimum of five years experience and most have ten or more years experience. Our carpenter has over fifteen years experience.
